Question: Which of the above Eames Lounge Chair is AUTHENTIC?
One is a “Made in China” replica. The other one is an authentic Herman Miller product. They look 80% alike. But when you touch it, the leather feels clearly different. When you sit on it, the real one is so much more comfortable. And when you look at other small details and finishing……
However, the replica costs 80% less.
Enough said.
So, on this National Day of China, I want to thank all the Chinese furniture makers, for making sure everyone can now own a piece of “designer” furniture. But at the same time, I wonder when we can see an original “Designed in China” furniture that will shock the world for the next century.
You can always copy the design, but you will never steal its soul.
At least that’s what I believe.
