“hooly… It’s our 1st Anniversary”
Thursday
September 09, 2010
On September 9, 2009, hoo was officially founded.
In Chinese, it is a date (the 9s) that stands for “everlasting” (ok, call me superstitious on this one). During the past year, a lot happened. I finally quitted my job as a Creative Director at Leo Burnett to focus on building hoo. I worked my butt off on all those home design projects. I learned many valuable, sometimes painful, lessons on how to run a business. There were always new challenges to overcome everyday. I stumbled, recovered, and grew stronger……
hoo… what a year it was.
Looking back, it really was a great learning experience. I wanna thank my clients for their trust in me, someone who has never taken any interior design course, to do their precious homes. Thank Tony Wong for inspiring me to start my brand. Thank all my dear friends for their continuous support. And especially thank my fellow designer Zaia for her talents and dedication.
I am probably not a good businessman, though I majored in Business Administration. I can design 100 homes no one ever remembers, and make tons of money. But I choose to do the quality few that everyone loves. I believe this is how a brand will grow and last forever.
I am not really good at words, so I will let my work do the talking. Hopefully, you will see more and more good design from hoo.
For many years to come.
